7-Part Docuseries Coming 2024

Synopsis:

Following a tragic loss, a grieving mother and daughter are swept into the magical world of Camp Ukandu - a summer camp that provides children struggling with cancer a week of outrageous fun.

CAMP is a story showcasing what humanity is capable of at its best.

Every June, within the wilderness of Northwest Oregon, something incredible happens. For seven days, a group of volunteers of varying ages, backgrounds, and beliefs unite to create an unforgettable and joyous week for a collection of young campers navigating a cancer experience.

“This place changes you. It changes you for the better.”

On paper, what sounds like a solemn and heartbreaking environment is, in reality, something very different.

For the week of Camp Ukandu, children and adults alike rediscover what it means to be a kid again, shedding the shells and divisions that can so easily disconnect us from each other in our daily lives.

The result is a new kind of community - a space of compassion, courage, and connection.

“If I only had one week off a year, I’d spend it at Camp.”

Regardless if a person has attended a single session at Camp Ukandu or 30, most struggle to describe their experience.

“That’s like asking me to define love or hope.”

Many settle on some variation of:

“You can’t understand it unless you’ve been there.”

But now, maybe you can.

CAMP is a truly unique documentary series, one that transports audiences directly into this extraordinary world through an intimate immersion into the 2019 session of Camp Ukandu.

The story follows Begonia and Worm (Camp names) , two women preparing to volunteer for the first time, a few months after losing their son and brother, Fern

Although he knew he was at the end of his life, Fern’s final days were transformed by his experience at Camp the previous year.

“He said it was one of the best weeks of his life. I hope it will be one of the best weeks of my life too, and I hope I can help make it - other kids - the best week of their life.”

The two women enter Camp Ukandu ready to be of service, but also in search of their own healing.

The seven episodes focus on each day of the week-long experience, continuously diving deeper into the people, events, traditions, and stories that form this remarkable place.

Begonia and Worm soon discover that when a group of people join together under a shared mission of love , the results are nothing short of

magical

CAMP is currently being submitted to 2024 film festivals.
